Executive Director/CEO Teresa Hunter, MPA, JD, joined Family Housing Advisory Services (FHAS) in 1994. FHAS improves quality of life and eliminates poverty through a broad menu of services that help people achieve housing stability and financial success. Teresa proudly leads a team focused on educating people to eliminate barriers to success at all levels. To further assist community members in reaching their professional development goals, FHAS founded the Speak Now Toastmasters Club that is open to the community.

Teresa holds a bachelor’s degree in business management, a law degree, and a master’s in public administration. Teresa has served on the boards of directors of the Omaha Municipal Land Bank, Empowerment Network, Nonprofit Association of the Midlands, Catholic Charities Omaha, Avenue Scholars Foundation Community Advisory Board, Mayor’s Fair Housing Advisory Group, Douglas County Emergency Food and Shelter Board, Alliance Building Communities, Children’s Square USA, and United Methodist Community Centers Wesley House. Teresa has been honored to receive the National Coalition of Black Women Award for Economic Empowerment, Empower Omaha! Champion’s Award, Urban League Community-based Organization Award, UNO Alumni Award for Excellence in Public Service, African American Leadership Award, and the UNO Nonprofit of the Year Public Service Recognition Award. An Omaha native, Teresa has a passion for her work to better her community.
